Hank's: Not just coffee and treats

My morning routine requires a crucial stop at Hank’s for an Americano and mint square. Without it, I can be miserable… The Punch Buggy Espresso roast from Detour Coffee Roasters is just that good! From time to time I may order a proper breakfast, but I’ve always compartmentalized Hank’s as a café with delicious treats. Since the ownership change, however, the place has been evolving. New decor, renovations, new staff, new menu, and now, sit-down lunches and dinners have made it obvious this is not the same Hank’s Jamie Kennedy left behind — and that’s OK: the coffee is awesome; the service is excellent, and the place has a great buzz when its packed mid-morning or on weekends for brunch. And if you happen to find yourself there during lunch time, like I did yesterday, you can enjoy a reasonably priced meal worthy of a visit if you live or work in the Saint Lawrence Market neighbourhood.

Their menu changes often, but you can find the latest specials on their blog. I had the Morrocan Carrot Soup with the Roasted Capon Sandwich (green onions mayo, roasted peppers, pickled onion, bibb lettuce sandwiched between two slices of grain and honey bread). It was delicious.

Worth stopping at if you’re in the area.
